Bathford is twinned with Artannes-sur-Indre in the Loire Valley, near Tours ( https://artannes.fr/ ). The Loire Valley is an area famed for good food and wine and, of course, superb chateaux.
The formal Twinning Association was set up in 2005. Every year we take turns to visit each other’s village, normally over a long weekend. In addition, there are often small, special interest trips, e.g. cookery, music, gardening and shared holidays in other locations in both England and France. There are also local social activities and fund-raising events such as Quiz Nights and Safari Suppers as well as an AGM which usually incorporates a social element. All activities are promoted in the Bathford Bulletin and/or via supporter newsletters. There is no membership fee. Interested individuals, usually in the Bathford/Kingsdown area, can sign up to be on the mailing list and receive periodic newsletters. We have two bursaries to help young people and groups to visit Artannes: 1 Eker Bursary Young people living in Bathford aged between 16 and 21 can apply for a grant to fund a trip to Artannes. For more information, please contact us for details and an application form. 2 Groups Travel Fund Groups/Organisations in Bathford can apply for funding to support travel costs to Artannes.
